I have a great calendar by him this year. Each month tells the next mysterious happening at the manor house. Will the twisby be found? What is a twisby? What really is going on? Who is the other statue? Duh, duh, duhhhhh! Quirky mysteries are fun which is perhaps why I am a die hard Agatha Christie fan. Quite often I ponder with gratitude on Christie's wiliness to write so many books. She must have known their charm and the needs of her future fans. How considerate.Also check out, if you are searching for enjoyable summer reading, The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith. This is a series set in Botswana about a lady, Mma Romotswe, who sets up a detective agency, the first in Botswana. A clear, simple style with many poignant vignettes about human nature and the ways of Africa (of which I was largely ignorant). Bush tea anyone?
