The Colorado Legislator has passed a piece of legislation which, if signed by the governor, will include sexual orientation on the state's list of non-discrimination statutes. That means that individuals will have the legal control over determining their gender and CANNOT be barred from public bathroom facilities, i.e. a man saying he is a women (doesn't even have to be dressed like one) can walk into a women's restroom and anyone who objects will face prosecution with possible fines and jail time. Eek! Imagine the hey dey for sexual predators and the problems for Christian (or Muslim) business owners who would object on religious grounds to this occurring in their restrooms. This includes schools, too.

and Pray.

So, I had the last class of my undergraduate career on Thursday. The weather was a bit drizzly but the sun was made brighter by the glowing, radiating seniors. We couldn't stop smiling. I turned in my thesis to my adviser, Dr. Black, who wrote across the front: Approved, and signed it. Then he shook my hand and said, "Congratulations." Bliss, bliss, bliss! I have an exam on Monday but then, voilĂ , I am finished!

After the first moments of uncontained glee on Thursday (really beginning at 2:30a.m. when I completed my last revisions), I haven't known what to do with myself. My known reality -- read, write, eat, sleep, read more, rewrite, eat, sleep a little, and again and again -- has evaporated. Of course, I had lists ready. Lists for projects to do in the weeks following my last class and lists for this summer but I haven't had the heart or the focus to do anything yet.

Yesterday, I did absolutely, gloriously, wonderfully nothing. You know, the sort of nothing that makes you feel sweet inside: I met with The Elm staff one more time down at Sam's, the bohemian coffee shop; was pampered at a hair salon; wandered around Twigs and Tea Cups, treating myself to a piece of dark chocolate; went to the Natural Food Store. In the evening, Rowena and I got cute and went to First Friday. Chestertown has a thriving community and often has community events such as First Friday, the time once a month when all the shops stay open until nine or so and serve hor d'oevres and wine. It's great. When I finally settle down in some town I want to be a part of a community. People need community. Then Rowena and I stayed up together chatting, planning our futures, reading fun books, drinking tea and eating Digestive Biscuits (English), and watching Sex and the City.

I slept until 11:58 this morning. This is unheard of. I never sleep this late. I never sleep in. I missed the Farmer's Market, blast.

Things are also coming to a close. It is sad. I have already had slight hints of some of the melancholy but because of the stress of work I didn't have time to dwell on it all. At the Society of Junior Fellows Symposium two weeks ago, they recognized all the seniors and President Tipson put our graduation cords around our necks. On Wednesday, Campus Christian Fellowship had a picnic for all the seniors and gave us travel mugs, for our real jobs. Next Saturday, Rowena leaves. I'm beginning to cry just writing this. So...let's move on.

Big plans for this summer!
To do:
- Sell all unwanted college text books (won't be that many because I am a book horde)
- Read as many classic books as humanly possible to make up for the severe lack in my modern college degree
- Scrapbook or album the last four years
- Take up painting
- Watch classic movies
- Make money (Put money in your purse!)
- Build a career woman's wardrobe
- Take up golfing and tennis again
- Die hair red (jk)
- Enjoy God's beautiful creation and his beautiful people!

This has been a long four years. So why does it feel like I just blinked and it passed?
