It has been many moons since I have written. Now, however, I have concluded that writing in my blog will be a good way to spend fifteen minutes of two or three of my evenings a week. I am searching for an amusing or touching antidote to record from this past week...I can't think of one. There is this memory that I recalled today that I have been smiling over. I was remembering when Greg invented the game of using our luggage straps to tie one of us up, or himself, and then attach them to a piece of furniture, set a timer (the bomb), and leave the room and lock the door. You had to get out before the bomb exploded!
I had my first fencing lesson this past week. It turns out that I have a wicked lunge and I am an épée. There are three kinds of "weapons" in fencing, nevereferreded to as "swords," the foil, épée and saber. With the épée, anywhere on the body is fair game and the point of the weapon is used for inflicting stabs unlike with the saber where hacking motions are used and only from the waste up is allowed, this is because it was originally designed to attack men on horse back and you didn't want to injure the horse by going for the riders legs. The foil is a poking weapon, as well, and can be used anywhere between the shoulders, below the neck and above the waste. So far this has been an extremely fun hobby (one class later). One of my friends started up this club and her former high school coach donated alequipmentpement that we would need. I've always wanted to learn how to fence and carry a dagger stashed against my leg: one step at a time!
I have resumed my yoga interests. I absolutely adore it! Everyone should take a yoga class, it makes you feel so great. And if you have reservations about the supposed meditation that they do, I have encountered anything bizarre yet. In fact, I use it as a time to meditate on scripture. This is a bibexerciseercise that is very difficult to fit into a busy schedule since whenever spare moments arise it's hard to force yourself to take it to sit and think about scripture. Yoga provides a whole hour and a half when I can concentrate on God and not falling over!
Semester's scripture: Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. I Peter 5:7
