I had to journey to the far off land of U of M yesterday afternoon. Fierce gales buffeted my vehicle threatening to bring me and those near me into peril. The sky was bewitchingly glorious with thick, low slung clouds and haunting lighting. All together the journey was arduous, long and round about. Through Providence's grace and a strong grip on the wheel, however, I reached my destination.
Look at the fair sprite who greeted me:

We dined at a funky hippie café which had homemade batman curtains in the windows, live music and a fantastic menu. An unusual place, visited with a friend, and accompanied by lively conversation is the quintessence of happiness for me! I also had freshly prepared hummus, one of my favorite foods, maybe I am Arab like my Grandma claims. Faith liked it, too!
{On the menu: a s'more platter that comes with its own fire! We saw someone order it and, yes, there was a small black pot with burning coals and sticks for roasting.}
Fun was had by all, especially the waiter.
Note on cities: I miss living in and near cities. Chestertown has been lovely and it is so charming but I think a job and/or graduate school in a thriving metropolis is in my near future. The theatre, the cafés, the ability to walk everywhere, the quirkiness to be found!
D.C. has some rocking radio stations. I was able to listen to C-Span and hear the National Journalist Association field questions from the public on their coverage of the 2008 campaign. Snazzy!
Cheers to Faith and moving doors!
